first day of class: check!

first of all, i've heard that the leyden family is keeping up with this blog. here's a shout out to them! :)

and just a bit of information- i now have 8 scabbed, gross bug bites on my arms alone.

talk about non sequiturs...

today was the first day of classes! it went really well, i'm happy to say. italian was review, and was a really nice, relaxed environment. i didn't sit there freaking out, hoping that my teacher wouldn't call on me, which was a nice change for me. photography class was 2.5 hours about aperture. enough said. that will get better. our first assignment, which hasn't actually been assigned yet, is 10 pictures: "first impressions of florence". i'm going to take a picture of a bunch of damn pigeons. seriously. one is going to fly into my head before i leave. i've almost been hit 4 times already. it's fine.

tonight we went to the bar that we went to last night to watch the world cup came. you didn't see it? neither did we. it's tomorrow. instead we went to the gelato place that we went to our first night. after having gelato every night since i've been hear, i'm going to call myself an expert, and must say that this place is sub-par compared to everything else. it just tasted good before we knew what we were missing.

i felt kind of homesick today. i think i'm just worrying about getting myself to all of the places i want to go. i think this weekend my apartment plus two others is going to go to cinque terre for a few days. i was thinking about leaving and going to venice for the day on sunday- honestly, i could go, get on a gondola, and leave happy- but i think i'm going to have to save that for a friday or something since everyone else wants to stay in cinque terre all weekend. i'm sure i'll be glad i traveled a bit less, i'm just still worried about squeezing everything in.
after all of that, i'm still missing home. but so far, this feels like a vacation from which i will return in a matter of days. i'm sure it will hit me soon. i'm a big girl. i'm ok!

i don't know how it got to be 12:30. i have to get up and get things accomplished in the morning.

love y'all! (someone made a comment about me saying y'all last night. that hasn't happened but once before)
